Research Project
The objective of this seed grant project is to establish a baseline characterization of animal-plant resource relationship at urban sites in Puerto Rico with special focus on socioeconomic and landscape context. We will explore how the abundance, diversity and wildlife activity respond to existing green cover and plants in urban areas. As well, we will use interviews to examine people's perspective towards plants species and wildlife.
Educational Interventions
Evaluate the impact of educational interventions to promote sustainable relationship between humans and nature.
Greening Efforts
Strategic greening efforts on the avian and pollinator communities in Puerto Rico's urban landscape.
Larger Transdisciplinary Experiment
These initial data will be critical for the design and implementation of a larger transdisciplinary, landscape-scale experiment that will evaluate the impact of a variety of urban socio-ecological system aspects.
